Tried to kip my pullups on my door gym during the warmup - this must look hilarious. I must video it. I'm 6'4, I reach the bar easily from on-my-knees, I'm almost as wide as the door. Final result is I can see that kipping is something I'll be able to do and spare my elbows. I've got to build an outdoor pullup bar!

Happened to stumble on your blog from another crossfit blog. On the pull-up bar...I am assuming it's one of those that is in the doorway...correct? Were you able to kip at all. I'm 5'5" so if you can kip in the doorway I assume that I'd be able to. I'd love to get a bar in the house.

Post a picture please! My husband is 6'6" and pull ups are a struggle unless he has enough room. It is always good for a smile. Keep it up!

Kim Dowse: I really wouldn't recommend it. The one I use is called the "Door Gym" - look on amazon. It is cantilevered and so when you swing one way you compromise the stability and could crash ( for me this is a whopping 3 inch fall. LOL

Kim Saxton: How high is your husband's reach - mine is 8'5 flat-footed. I am a middle hitter! To put it in perspective - there's a video of Greg A. doing pullups where he is on a box - since the bar is 8' high. I might have to watch my feet on this one! I really need a 9' bar. Once I get official Olympic weights, I'll have to go outside or destroy the ceiling!
