Mark Rippetoe says something to the effect of: if you do wear gloves, be sure they match your purse! He is SO funny!

I hope I don't have to start protecting my hands. I had been rubbing them with olive oil, which seemed to work at keeping the calloused skin elastic enough. Guess I need to be more diligent.
I think I'm going to try this with my 1-pood kettlebell.

You know, the other day I was just thinking about how I never ripped a callous. Then the last time I did Angie, I was rubbing my hands on the basement wall to get some dirt and dust to keep them dry and I tore one. At first it turned me off the idea of using chalk but I'm thinking chalk is more fine and might work. I think I'm going to get a block and see what happens. Or maybe I should just stick with sweaty palms because that seemed to work well.

Well, splint, I was out doing this one at 7 AM on a clear morning. Relative humidity 98%. So 2% away from rain on a clear day means? The bar was wet with dew. This was, most likely the issue. I have used the dirt around the pullup bar before, but I was listening to Led Zep - Physical Graffiti and couldn't be rational. I just had to keep push push pppushing through the workout...
