Puppies:
do 5 rounds of
max push ups
max pull ups or beginner pull ups

Round - Pullups - Pushups
  1. - 1 real - 10
  2. - 3 assisted - 10
  3. - 3 assisted - 10
  4. - 3 assisted - 10
  5. - 3 assisted - 6
First pullup brought back the pain. Did some nerve glides and got relief. Pushups were easy. Switched to subs with the band for the rest of the pullups. Also took it lite. I probably could have done more - but didn't want to risk the progress I've made in the last few days with the nerve glides (see the link on the right.) I'll take an easy swim in the morning since it will be rest day.

I'm not sure on your injuries, but if its motivation...sign up for a 5K about mid-May. That gives you 2 months to train, and it gives you a goal to work towards.

You can use my friend Hal at www.halhigdon.com to get a training plan for your level of running.

Good luck getting back on the road!

Hi Tanya

Thanks for the motivation! I have a Morton's Neuroma in my left foot. When I run, it gets irritated and causes improper firing of the muscles around my lower leg and ankle. The result is a calf cramp. The cramps aren't really caused by anything going on in the muscles themselves, but by the fact that they are doing work they aren't meant to do! URGH

Anyway, I got some Vibram Five Fingers and have felt some improvement. I also did a round of Graston Technique - which helped. I'll start by going to the track and trying a 400m soon.

I wasn't sure what those things were so I did some research (geeky). No chance of just getting a special orthotic to help you out? Something to relieve the pressure on the nerve?

I'm sure you've already gone through this thought process already, but I have to put in my 2 cents.

Yep - basically I am avoiding any tight-fitting shoes. Hold the jokes about pumps! I have super wide feet, so my problem is from compressing the bones together from the sides. I am getting relief from wearing wide toe-box shoes and leaving any laces very loose.

It's been a few weeks since I tried running so we'll see if this works.
